'My vision is to facilitate individual and group expression through art, music, drama, and dance/movement to clients of all ages with all levels of functioning. I provide creative opportunities that integrate education, mentoring and therapy.

I offer resources, support, and introductory training in arts therapies to parents, faculty, and professionals in other institutions through seminars and workshops.

I use expressive arts therapy to help people reach their fullest potential.'

Alessandra Colfi holds a B.A. in Linguistics, a Master in Fine Art, and is a Ph.D. candidate in Expressive Arts Therapy. She’s a member of the International Expressive Arts Therapy Association and The Society for the Arts in Healthcare.

She is a Faculty and the Associate Director of the Expressive Arts Therapy Department at IUPS and teaches at UCSD Extension.

Her background in design & fine art is combined with extensive studies and applications of behavioral science, counseling psychology, spirituality and academic mentorship. Her research and dissertation focus on empathy as it emerges and is strengthened through the expressive arts process and as a vehicle for healing and raising awareness. Alessandra has been using art and its therapeutic effects for over 9 years in private and clinical settings (assisting cancer patients, Alzheimer’s seniors, developmentally and physically disabled adults and children, the general population of adults, teens and children.

Recently Alessandra has added a new dimension to her repertoire: she joined her husband William Leslie in creating artistic lighting fixtures called Paper Sun Lightsculpture

Alessandra’s Expressive Arts Therapy sessions, Creative Playshops™ and trainings are integrated in programs offered privately for groups or individuals at Golden Door; Cal-A-Vie - The Spa Havens; International University of Professional Studies; UCSD Extension; San Diego Cancer Center & Research Institute, Scripps Cancer Center; Fallbrook County Library; Deer Park Monastery; San Dieguito Adult Education; TERI, Inc.; Cosmikids; Canyon Crest Academy. In the past, at The Wellness Community; Caring Community - Living with Cancer; OMA School of the Arts, Fallbrook Art School, The Children School of La Jolla; Shi-ho Gallery; The Unity Center.
